Betty and Jay are just too adorable and fun, I literally could not stop taking their photos! This usually happens each time I do an engagement session but we were seriously running out of sunlight!
When I meet my clients in person for the first time after talking with them through email, sometimes in a span of over a year or more, it’s always such a great moment. Not only am I excited to get out and take some brand new photos, but I am thrilled just to finally meet my couples or families! So spending time with Christine and Brandin for their engagement session in Winter Park recently was just as awesome as I knew it would be. These two are so in love and completely adorable. All they need is each other. Whether they are laughing and giggling away, or enjoying a quiet moment together, they are forever inseparable and that is such a special relationship to have.

What an amazing afternoon we had with such a rewarding outcome – a collection of very beautiful engagement photos! Christine and Brandin, I can’t wait to see you both very soon![/pullquote]
As with any session, especially if you haven’t had a photo session with a photographer before, the first ten minutes or so can honestly feel a little awkward. I always find myself telling my clients about this. For example, you might not know how you would like to pose, or when to look at the camera and when not to, but you just need to get warmed up first. Soon enough you are practically dancing around and that is exactly what happened with Christine and Brandon. In no time at all, the three of us were skipping around the Rollins College campus in a happy, photo-taking adventure, racing against the clouds and chasing the sun.
It is always a challenge to write my next introduction, I’ll have to admit it just this once. (I know to one of my lovely fans, Suli, this may come as a surprise.) And when I think about what to write about Mandy and David, there are a lot of memories and feelings about the moments we shared while capturing very special photographs. It’s hard to get my thoughts flowing in the right order at the keyboard. After meeting them for their engagement session, I felt like I knew them already. I was so comfortable around them and their easy going demeanor. And after their wedding, I knew just how to describe them. They are both old souls. As they read this, I am pretty sure they’ll think I’m right. Their love for one another is so enduring, trusting and true. The fleeting currents and trends of the present-day escape them and they stay genuine. Always the same, true to themselves and now true to each other.
As I photographed their wedding day, my aim was to stay simple and meaningful, to preserve each moment as if it was a dream. For some of their images I created a look comparable to film to hopefully touch their hearts a little bit more. The settings at Albin Polasek Museum and Gardens in Winter Park provided the perfect atmosphere for their wedding ceremony and reception. And the weather was so beautiful that day – it felt signed, sealed and hand-delivered. Mandy and David, you deserved every bit of beautiful on October 20, 2013. I hope you cherish these images.

I was so glad to hear from Michelle a couple of weeks ago. She wanted to have fall and holiday themed family photos of herself, husband Renato and son Lucas. Even their pup Toby came along. We decided to take the photos in Winter Park and even though there happened to be a festival going on, we found our quiet spots and made some amazing and special images. There is just something about the late afternoon light in the Winter Park area that is pure magic. I added a little faded vintage tone to most of these photos to give even more character.
Lucas and my son Liam were actually born one day apart so it was really fun to photograph a little boy who reminded me so much of my own son. (I’ve actually photographed a few little ones lately who are all September babies!) Lucas was so adorable and mom Michelle really put together some cute outfits for him, including one with a hat and tie. I also brought along some wooden letters to spell out “one” since this is his first Christmas being one. He really had fun during the photo session and I hope to see him again soon! It’s so important to take photos at this age because they really do grow so quickly.
Parente Family, you are such a beautiful and kind family. I hope you enjoy these photos for years to come and that we get together again in the very near future. And Lucas, stay sweet and charming just as you are now!
